Hadiqa Kiani was born on 11 August 1972 in Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. Hadiqa Kiani is a Pakistani singer, songwriter, guitarist, composer, actress and philanthropist. She has received numerous national and international awards and honours. Hadiqa Kiani has performed at the Royal Albert Hall and The Kennedy Center. A United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, Kiani has done a wide range of philanthropic work. Hadiqa Kiani has sung songs in Urdu and Punjabi, Sindhi and Pashto languages.

Hadiqa Kiani was awarded Pakistan's fourth highest civilian award, the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, in 2006 for her contribution to the field of music. In 2010 she was appointed a United Nations Development Programme Goodwill Ambassador, making her the first woman from Pakistan to be a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations. In 2016 Kayani was named one of Pakistan's most powerful and influential women by Pakistan's leading news group Jang Group of Newspapers as part of Kayani's Power edition.

Hadiqa Kayani was one of several artists featured in a widely popular track called Yeh Hum Nahi in March 2007. The song featured a number of Pakistani artists to convey a message that the stereotype of Pakistanis is not true and that they oppose terrorism. The song - in its music video - expresses anti-terrorism sentiment and supports the anti-terrorism campaign Yeh Hum Nahi. Other well-known artists featured in the song along with Hadiqa Kayani include Ali Zafar, Shafqat Amanat Ali and the Strings duo. The song was picked up by international networks such as Fox News and the BBC and received a large number of downloads. In August 2010 Kayani and her siblings worked with the Pakistani army and local Pakistanis to provide clothing, water, food and shelter to Pakistan's flood victims following the devastating 2010 Pakistan floods. In collaboration with the Pakistan Army, Kayani visited the Multan relief camp, Basti Kalariwala, Muzaffarabad and other flood-affected areas, and personally distributed goods to the affected people. On 8 November 2010, Kayani was appointed a United Nations Development Programme Goodwill Ambassador after being recognized for her personal philanthropic efforts. After being appointed UN Ambassador, Kayani continued to build housing facilities in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for flood victims, until she had completed the construction of over 250 houses. Nowshera was one of the worst flood-affected areas in the country.

Kayani was selected as one of the Pond's Miracle Mentors in early 2015 along with 9 other famous and influential women as an initiative to highlight and support strong women in the patriarchal Pakistani society. Later that month Kayani raised issues of women in leadership at the Women's Leadership Summit 2015 alongside Reham Khan, the then wife of former cricketer Imran Khan, and several other women who have achieved success in their respective fields, including Muniba Mazari and Nadia Jamil. The summit provided a common platform to international and local voices as an act towards shedding light on the issue of gender discrimination in the workplace.

Kayani works regularly with the Edhi Foundation and has been associated with several other charitable organisations, including Muslim Hands, SOS Villages and UNICEF. She has also campaigned and been an ambassador for Shaukat Khanum, Oxfam International and, since 2010, the United Nations. In November 2015 it was announced that Kayani would speak at TEDxKinnaird on the role of women in Pakistani society. After taking a stance on the social issue of sexual abuse against children in the Pakistani community in 2016 with the award-winning project, Udaari, Kayani again took a stance against the issue in 2017. In July 2017 Kayani teamed up with Nestlé to launch a socially responsible initiative in Pakistan regarding early childhood development. In August 2022 Kayani launched her project called Waseela-e-Raah to aid victims of the 2022 Pakistan floods in Balochistan and South Punjab.

Kayani led her humanitarian efforts through the flood relief campaign and provided food, tents and medical supplies including anti-snake venom to flood-affected areas. The campaign's social media donated essential items for flood relief efforts including waterproof tents, charpai (beds) and mosquito nets. Five million people in Pakistan were left homeless by the effects of the floods. According to Gulf News Kayani sent dozens of trucks with supplies to the affected areas, the supplies were collected and packed by Hadiqa and her team based in Lahore. Kayani continued to visit affected areas in Balochistan and Punjab provinces, providing facilities and relief to victims of the climate disaster. "I am doing this as a Pakistani citizen, not as a politician, not for votes or anything else. It is my civic duty, it is your civic duty. Do your part," Kayani said.

Kiani had completed the construction of 100 houses, a maternity centre, a primary school and a grocery store in Tambu Tehsil, Nasirabad District, Balochistan by 1 March 2023. On 28 September 2023, Kiani shared via social media that she has completed the construction of 370 houses, 2 mosques, 1 maternity centre and 1 grocery store in Tambu and Kundi Village Districts, flood-affected areas of Nasirabad, Balochistan. In September 2023, Kiani was campaigning for the availability of clean water.

We cannot wait for others to change, we have to bring change ourselves. Being a part of building another cancer hospital is a blessing in itself. Watch me live on ARY Digital and donate as much as you can to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Peshawar.

I know six years is a big break. But I never went away from music. I never released an album because I wanted to make a different album, something I have never done before.

The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre is a genuine project and a living proof of the generosity of the people of Pakistan.
