The official date of death of 23 year old Alexander (born June 1, 1999), better known as Technoblade, is June 30, 2022, but exactly when Technoblade died is unknown. Technoblade was an American YouTuber known for his Minecraft videos, livestreams, and participation in Dream SMP. Technoblade became very popular and successful at a young age. His death was widely mourned. Technoblade registered his main channel on YouTube in 2013. His videos mainly consisted of Minecraft gameplay, specifically on the minigame server Hypixel. After gaining popularity for his performances in player vs. player events in 2019, Technoblade was invited to the Dream SMP Minecraft server in 2020, which further increased his follower count.

In August 2021, Technoblade announced that he was suffering from cancer. After unsuccessful treatment attempts, Technoblade died of metastatic sarcoma in June 2022, causing widespread grief in Minecraft and YouTube, its affiliates, supporters, listeners, etc. Technoblade had approximately 11 million subscribers on his main YouTube channel at the time of his death. In an interview with The New York Times, Hypixel's lead administrator Don Pierce said that Technoblade's family would not comment further on his death, except for videos they were comfortable sharing. Over 377,000 messages written by users were printed in 22 volumes that were presented to Technoblade's family by Hypixel Studios CEO Noxie in November 2022. A fan-made artwork oil painting and a Technoblade-themed cosplay headpiece were made available to the family. On July 2, 2022, Mojang Studios paid tribute to Technoblade in the launcher image of Minecraft Java Edition. The revised image added a crown on a pig in reference to Technoblade's in-game Minecraft skin and channel branding. This tribute was removed a month later when the image was changed to promote Minecraft's Wild Update. After fans suggested the addition, Mojang added a new splash text to the Minecraft title screen—Technoblade never dies! In an email to The New York Times, Mojang Studios wrote that Technoblade became synonymous with a source of goodness.

On September 28, 2022, the Sarcoma Foundation of America presented Technoblade's family with the SFA Courage Award to honor his strength and perseverance in the face of his sarcoma diagnosis. On October 28, 2022, nine years after the creation of the Technoblade YouTube channel, YouTube uploaded an eight-minute video titled Technoblade Never Dies to their official channel in honor of Technoblade's ninth anniversary. YouTube revealed that an average of 300 new videos with the same catchphrase in the title were uploaded per day since his death in June. That same day, MrBeast uploaded a video that is believed to be the last video with Technoblade's involvement. On June 23, 2023, Dream released his fourth song, Until I End Up Dead, in memory of Technoblade. He released an alternate video titled Until I End Up Dead in memory of Technoblade on August 26, 2023.
