Life is very simple, you do some things. Most fail. Some tasks, you do more of them.

Experience is a truer guide than the words of others.

Be a mirror, absorb everything around you and still remain yourself.

I thought I was learning to live, I was just learning to die.

One has no right to love or hate anything if he has not acquired a thorough knowledge of its nature. Great love arises from great knowledge of the beloved object, and if you know it little you will be able to love it only a little or not at all.

Beauty perishes in life, but remains immortal in art.

Not punishing evil is tantamount to authorizing it.

I'm struck by the urgency to do. Knowing is not enough, we must apply, willing is not enough, we must do.

Since you can't do what you want, want what you can.

The deeper the emotion, the greater the pain.

Except in the case of the genitals and tongue, the function of the muscles is to pull and not to push.

There are three classes of people, what they see. Those who see when shown, those who do not.

It is easier to resist at the beginning than at the end.

Study the principles of holistic mind development, the science of art. Study the art of science. Develop your senses, especially learn to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.

Men suffer the greatest betrayal from their own opinions.

Knowledge of all things is possible.

I love people who can smile in trouble, who can gather strength from distress, and become brave by reflecting. Shrinkage is the work of small minds, but those whose hearts are strong, and whose conscience approves of their conduct, will follow their principles unto death.

The mind never gets tired of learning.

If you are alone you are completely on your own. If you have even one companion, you are half as much as yourself or less in proportion to the thoughtlessness of his conduct, and if you have more than one companion, you will fall deeper into the same plight.

Just as a day well spent brings pleasant sleep, a life well used brings pleasant death.

Art is never finished, only abandoned.

The Littlest Cat is a masterpiece.

Nothing can be loved or hated unless it is first understood.

I have given up eating meat since childhood, and the time will come when people like me will view the killing of animals the same way they now view the killing of humans.

The best happiness is the joy of understanding.

There can be no greater or lesser mastery than one's mastery of oneself.

I love people who can smile even in trouble.

The painter has the universe in his mind and hands.

nothing strengthens authority so much as silence.

It had long since come to my attention that accomplished people rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and started doing things.

Studying without desire spoils the memory and whatever is absorbed does not remain in it.

Once you have tasted flight, you will always walk on earth with your eyes turned to the sky, because you have been there, and there you will always yearn to return.

A painter must begin every canvas by applying a wash of black, because everything in nature is dark except where light is exposed.

Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen.
